Cumberland Plain Land Snail – Gregory Hills
Designed by Distinctive for Gregory Hills Public Art Project delivered by Dart West Developments.
This artwork is a symbol for us all to reflect upon. A simple, unassuming creature with little colour of intrigue and easily overlooked. However, this tiny snail, endemic and only found in the Woodland Ecosystem of Western Sydney is endangered, as is the whole ecosystem.
The land snail is a reminder that the destruction of ecosystems and the loss of biodiversity hurts us all. The preservation and conservation of these unique places are critical to our own survival.
The Cumberland Plain Land Snail can be found in the South Creek Riparian Corridor in Gregory Hills Estate.
